Ingredients needed to make the Cowboy Boot Chocolate Covered Oreos:
These country themed Oreos only require a few tools, a microwave, and a touch of artistic flair. They are a no-bake dessert so grab your ingredients and flex your creative muscle playing with the decorations to make your own country music cookie masterpieces!
Ingredients needed:
- Oreo cookies – (Highly recommend Double Stuf, Lemon, and Birthday Cake Oreos)
- Ghirardelli Melting Wafers
- Cowboy boot sprinkles
- Music note sprinkles
- Gold sanding sugar
Additional Tools:
- Wax or parchment paper
- Glass measuring cup
- Sprinkle decorating tweezers – these help SO much with accuracy when decorating!
How to make the half-dipped white chocolate Oreos:
- Lay out a sheet of parchment or wax paper.
- Melt the white chocolate according to the instructions on the bag. To prevent the chocolate from scorching, microwave it on half power in a glass measuring cup.
- Dip half of the Oreo in the melted white chocolate and gently scrape off excess chocolate on the edge of the glass as you remove it. Place the Oreo onto the wax paper.
- While the chocolate is still wet, sprinkle it with gold sanding sugar and use sprinkle tweezers to place two cowboy boot sprinkles on the top right corner. Allow to dry and harden before moving.
How to make the cowboy boot and music note Oreos:
- Lay out a sheet of parchment or wax paper.
- Melt your dark chocolate according to the instructions on the bag. To prevent the chocolate from scorching, microwave it on half power in a glass measuring cup.
- Set an Oreo on a fork, lower it down into the melted chocolate, and lift it up out of the glass without taking it off of the fork. Remove the excess chocolate by lighty tapping the side of the fork on the rim of the glass. This also helps get rid of air bubbles.
- Carefully slide the dipped Oreo off of the fork onto the parchment paper.
- While the chocolate is still wet, use sprinkle tweezers to place two cowboy boot sprinkles in the center of the cookie and music note sprinkles around them. Allow to dry and harden before moving.
How to make the Happy Birthday Oreos:
- Lay out a sheet of parchment or wax paper and prepare the chocolate letters first.
- Melt the dark chocolate according to the instructions on the bag. To prevent the chocolate from scorching, microwave it on half power in a glass measuring cup.
- Pour the melted chocolate into a piping or ziplock bag and cut a small corner of the tip of the bag.
- Pipe the melted chocolate into the Happy Birthday silicone mold. Tap the silicone mold on the counter a few times to pop any air bubbles.
- Allow the chocolate to harden and then remove it from the mold once set. To help prevent the letters from breaking, pull the silicone mold away from the letters first to release the edges before popping them out.
- Next, melt the white chocolate in a glass measuring cup.
- Place the Oreo on a fork, dunk it in the melted chocolate, and lift it up out of the glass without taking it off of the fork. Remove the excess chocolate by lighty tapping the side of the fork on the rim of the glass. This helps to get rid of air bubbles.
- Carefully slide the dipped Oreo off of the fork onto the parchment paper.
- While the chocolate is still wet, place two of the birthday message letters on each Oreo, followed by a sprinkle of festive nonpareils. Allow to dry and harden before moving.
Chocolate dipping and decorating tips:
- Try not to move the sprinkles after placing them, as the chocolate will dry with bumps from them being moved around. It is very helpful to use tweezers for accuracy when placing the sprinkles.
- Be mindful of how fast the chocolate is hardening. I find that if I am working in a cool environment, the chocolate hardens quickly and I have to move fast to decorate. You can always place a drop of chocolate on the dipped Oreo to act as a “glue” and then place your decoration, however I find placing it on the cookie when wet yields the most streamline look.
How should I store the chocolate dipped Oreos?
The chocolate covered Oreos can be stored in an air-tight container for 2-3 weeks. Stack them in between layers of parchment or wax paper. Fully dipped Oreos will stay fresher than half-dipped cookies since they aren’t exposed to air.
Side note – Try them refrigerated! I absolutely love these chocolate covered oreos cold. Something about the firm chocolate just elevates the flavor and experience to a whole new level. I’ve found that they freeze well also.
Chocolate dipped Oreos always get the biggest and most excited reaction from my friends and family – even moreso than a lot of the other homemade treats they receive! There is something nostalgic about them, and with a crunch and irresistible chocolate coating, they satisfy everyone’s sweet tooth.
Add these Oreos to a treat box, put them out on display at a party, or serve them individually in mini cupcake liners. They will be admired and adored by everyone!

Sprinkle decorating tweezers – these help SO much with accuracy!
Directions
- Lay out a sheet of parchment or wax paper.
- Melt the white or dark chocolate in a glass measuring cup with the microwave at half power to prevent scorching it.
- The White Chocolate Half-dipped Cowboy Boot Oreos:
- Dip half of the Oreo in the melted white chocolate and gently scrape off excess chocolate as you remove it on the edge of the glass. Place the Oreo onto the wax paper.

- The Happy Birthday Oreos:
- Pour some of the melted dark chocolate into a piping or ziplock bag and cut a small corner off the tip of the bag.
- Pipe the melted chocolate into the Happy Birthday silicone mold. Tap the silicone mold on the counter a few times to pop any air bubbles.
- Allow the chocolate to harden and remove from the mold once set. To help prevent the letters from breaking, pull the silicone mold away from the letters first to help release the edges before popping them out.

- While the chocolate is still wet, place two of the birthday message letters on each Oreo, followed by a sprinkle of festive nonpareils. Allow to dry and harden before moving.
Notes
- Sprinkle decorating tweezers greatly help with precise sprinkle placement.
- A glass measuring cup works the best to melt the chocolate in. I have tried other ceramic bowls and the chocolate does not melt nearly as smooth or silky.
- If you color your chocolate, use oil-based coloring so as not to seize the chocolate.
