Ingredients needed to make the cute Cat Chocolate Covered Oreos:

While these decorated Oreos require a bit of a steady hand (tweezers help for precision) and a touch of artistic flair, they are so much fun to make and bring personality to each one! They are a no-bake dessert so grab your ingredients and flex your creative muscle playing with the decorations to make your own little cat masterpieces!

How to make the white chocolate covered Oreo cats:

  1. Lay out a sheet of parchment or wax paper.
  1. Assemble the Oreo cat heads with ears. Remove one cookie from a regular size Oreo and place it to the side. Using a serrated knife, carefully carve small triangles from another unfrosted Oreo cookie to make the ears. Push two cookie triangles into the top of the cream filling to position the ears. Pushing the cream filling up and around the base of the ears will help make them stick. Place the regular size Oreo cookie back on top and gently press down to help it hold.

  1. Make the candy whiskers. Melt your red candy melts according to the package directions and pour them into a piping bag. Then, cut a small corner off of the bag and pipe thin, straight lines of the candy melts onto a piece of parchment paper. Once they dry and harden, use a knife to cut the red lines into smaller, whisker size pieces. Set aside.
  1. Melt your white chocolate according to the instructions on the bag and start dipping! (I melt my chocolate in a glass liquid measuring cup).
  1. Place the Oreo on a fork, dunk it in the melted white chocolate, and lift it up out of the glass without taking it off of the fork. Remove the excess chocolate by lighty tapping the side of the fork on the rim of the glass. This helps to get rid of any air bubbles.
  1. Carefully slide the dipped Oreo off of the fork onto the parchment paper.
  1. While the chocolate is still wet, place the heart sprinkle in the center as the nose, two candy eyes above, and whiskers on each side. Allow the dipped Oreos to fully dry before removing from the paper.

A few chocolate dipping and decorating tips:

  • Try not to move the sprinkles after placing them, as the chocolate will dry with bumps from being pushed around. It is very helpful to use tweezers for accuracy when placing the sprinkles.
  • Be mindful of how fast the chocolate is hardening. I find that if I am working in a cool environment, the chocolate hardens quickly and I have to move fast to decorate. You can always place a drop of chocolate on the dipped Oreo to act as a “glue” and then place your decoration, however I find placing it on the cookie when wet yields the most streamline look.

How should I store the white chocolate dipped Oreos?

The chocolate covered Oreos should be stored in an air-tight container for 2-3 weeks. Stack them in between layers of parchment or wax paper.

Side note – Try them refrigerated! I absolutely love these chocolate covered oreos cold. Something about the firm chocolate just elevates the flavor and experience to a whole new level. I’ve found that they freeze well also!

  • Sprinkle decorating tweezers will help with precise sprinkle placement.
  • Keep the whiskers long or, after they have fully dried onto the cookie, lightly break off the edges of the whisker to shorten them.
