Recipe used for the Valentine’s Day Crumbl sugar cookies:

To make a festive Valentine’s Day version of the Crumbl cookies, I used the The Softest Crumbl Circus Animal Cookies recipe by Lifestyle of a Foodie

I had made her Copycat Crumbl Churro Cookie and Tropical Chilled Crumbl Coconut Lime Cookie recipes previously and based on how fantastic they are, I knew this one had to be just as good. Below I explain how I decorate these sugar cookies as well as tips for making the recipe that I find helpful.

Tips for making the Crumbl Valentine’s Day sugar cookies:

  • Use a cookie scoop to portion the dough:
    • To make round and uniform cookies, a cookie scoop is a game-changer. For these I use the middle size scoop in this set and slightly overfill it. For those of you that love to bake in grams, each scoop comes out to about 70 grams, making 10 cookies in total.
  • Use a light colored pan.
    • One of the biggest tips I can ever give when it comes to baking cookies is to switch to light colored pans over their dark counterparts. My favorite are these aluminum pans by Nordic Ware. Light colored pans help cookies bake more evenly, without the bottoms becoming burnt or crispy. The difference truly is shocking!
  • Use Almond Extract or Almond Flavoring: The almond flavor adds a delicious note to these sugar cookies.
    • For nut allergies: I use McCormick Almond Flavor instead of Almond Extract in all of my desserts. It is an imitation almond flavor that tastes just like the real thing without the risk of an allergic reaction.
  • Use melting wafers for an easy-to-make chocolate heart:
    • If you’ve checked out some of my other posts, you’ll notice that I absolutely love Ghirardelli melting wafers. They are delicious and leave a gorgeous shine. For ease in this recipe, I used their white chocolate version for piping the heart on top.

How to decorate the Crumbl sugar cookies:

  1. Bake the cookies and allow them to fully cool.
  2. Pipe the white chocolate heart:
    1. Melt the white chocolate according to the package instructions or per the recipe.
    2. Pour the white chocolate into a plastic ziplock back or piping bag.
    3. Cut a small tip off of the corner of the piping bag.
    4. On your cooled cookies pipe the outline of a heart and then fill it in with additional chocolate. Gently lift up and tap down the cookie to help the chocolate settle and flatten.
      1. Be careful not to extend the heart too far over the edge of the cookie or it may drip down the sides.
  3. Sprinkle nonpareil sprinkles onto the heart while the white chocolate is still wet.
  4. Place the X’s and O’s Mother’s Cookies on top of the white chocolate before it dries.

  • Melt the white chocolate and pour it into a plastic piping bag.
