Tips for making a Valentine’s Day Dessert Charcuterie Board:

Pick a color theme:

  • Deciding on the main colors you wish to include helps the board look cohesive and also ensures it isn’t all one monotone hue. Switch up the colors so there is variety and the eye dances around the board.

Test your recipes ahead of time:

  • There is nothing like finding out the day before you plan to serve a dessert that the recipe failed or you’re missing a vital ingredient. Do a trial run to ensure nothing goes wrong at the last minute.

Decide on your board shape and sketch a mock-up on the design!

  • One of the most challenging parts of designing a cookie board is arranging the variety of treats in a way that is organized, flows, but also doesn’t look “too” perfect. I found that making a sketch (or a few) of the layout ahead of time took some stress away when it came to arranging the cookies.

Use candy as filler:

  • Don’t have enough cookies to fill up your entire board? Grab some festive candy and bowls and you have a beautiful and colorful way to add volume to your tray! M&Ms, heart shaped gummies, or any festive candy will work perfectly!

Recipes used for the Valentine’s Day Dessert Charcuterie Board:

m&m cookies made with pink, white, and red crushed m&ms stacked on a grey surface next to a bowl of more crushed m&ms

The Sweet and Salty Crushed M&M Cookies:

These are one of my all-time favorite cookies (for a few reasons!).

They have crisp edges contrasted by a chewy and buttery center. They also boast an absolutely delicious combination of salty and sweet with the addition of flaky salt sprinkled over top of the pink hued crushed M&Ms. Whether or not you make a cookie tray – bake a batch of these just to try!

Funfetti sugar cookies in a heart shaped bowl that are topped with a white chocolate heart and Mothers X's and O's cookies

The Copycat Crumbl Circus Animal Sugar Cookies:

A soft and sprinkle-filled sugar cookie flavored with hints of vanilla and almond, topped with a white chocolate heart and sealed with pink and white Mother’s Hugs and Kisses Valentine’s Day Cookies. All of these elements blend together for a flavor and texture that is absolutely incredible and – dare I say – addicting!

Close up of a Valentine's Day themed pan banging sugar cookie half dipped in white chocolate, drizzled in white chocolate, and decorated with a heart sprinkle on a pan lined with parchment paper

The Pan-Banging Sugar Cookies with White Chocolate:

These pan-banging sugar cookies with white chocolate are one of those cookies that you crave for not only their buttery flavor, but also for their texture that contrasts a chewy center with thin and crispy edges.

Dipping and drizzling these sugar cookies in melted white chocolate and sprinkling them with flaky salt adds a salty/sweet combination that is so delicious.

Sparkly bright pink and white striped heart shaped sugar cookies scattered on a light blue surface with a bowl and spoon of pink sanding sugar in the back

The Fudgy Red Velvet Crinkle Cookies

A brownie-like cookie that is absolutely decadent and perfect for Valentine’s Day and Christmas alike – these fudgy red velvet crinkle cookies are guaranteed to be a crowd favorite.

Sugar cookies coated in red and white sanding sugar with a chocolate heart on top, with heart sprinkles surrounding them

The Sparkle Sweetheart Sugar Cookies:

There is something about the crunch from the sanding sugar contrasting with the soft, almond-flavored cookie center that is absolutely delightful. Adding the chocolate heart on top adds another sweet element that tips these cookies over the edge! They freeze well also.

Red and pink Valentine's themed cookie gift boxes and tins filled with cookies and sealed with a red and white bow with a heart shaped gift tag

Make the dessert board into cookie gift boxes!

Not serving a large group this Valentine’s Day? Take the cookies and assemble them in cute tins and gift boxes for loved ones! I found these boxes at Home Goods, filled them with a variety of cookies, and dropped them off at the houses of my friends and family – they were all ecstatic to receive these sweet treats!

This Valentine’s Day dessert charcuterie board is a beautiful centerpiece, a terrific conversation starter, and best of all – filled with absolutely scrumptious and beautiful desserts! This dessert spread completely emulates baking with love. Anyone that receives a piece will feel the care that went into this creation and be so happy they were included!
