I had never seen anything like these striped heart-shaped cookies before. As soon as I laid my eyes on the pink glitter, I was sold! (Do these remind anyone else of the iconic Victoria’s Secret pink and white stripes?)
Be prepared – this recipe isn’t necessarily challenging but it does require quite a bit of time carved out. I personally found it to be a super fun art and baking project all in one!
Why I love the heart shaped pink and white striped sugar cookie recipe:
The striped dough scraps can be repurposed: Once you use up all of the striped dough and only have scraps left, you can roll it all up to make a beautiful light pink sugar cookie dough! I ended up making sugar cookie men with the uniformly colored dough and decorated them with white chocolate. A pink, Valentine’s Day version of gingerbread men!
Check out my Teddy Bear Cupcakes post for details on how to make the chocolate covered Oreos!
It’s a crowd pleaser: The sugar cookie base is perfectly sweet and the glittery and striped design is so unexpected and eye-catching!
It is versatile and adaptable for all holidays: This striped sugar cookie recipe could be adapted for all different holidays by changing the cookie dough shape and color of the stripes! These could be amazing for the Fourth of July with red and blue glittery stripes.
Tips for making the pink and white striped heart sugar cookies:
- Follow the recipe exactly
- I made both batches of dough separately, as John from Preppy Kitchen suggests, rather than making one big batch of dough and dividing it to then color one half pink.
- Use a quality food coloring.
- To achieve this pretty hue I used a few drops of Wilton Color Right liquid drops in pink.
- Go heavy with the sanding sugar.
- Make sure to apply a thick layer and really press it into the dough.
- Tips for cutting the stripes:
- Use a ruler – yes, I got precise here! I used a ruler and made small marks in the dough to use as a guide to ensure the strips were even.
- Keep the strips of dough cold after you cut them. They are much easier to work with and less prone to breaking when chilled.
- Get creative with the cookie cuter design!
- Use a larger and small sizes with different edge textures for variety
- Use a spatula to transfer the dough
- Picking up the cut-out dough and transferring it to your baking sheet with a spatula helps keep the dough perfectly heart shaped and in tact!
These pink and white heart sugar cookies completely embody baking with love! The care that goes into making these is apparent to anyone lucky enough to receive them. Valentine’s Day is going to be filled with extra sparkle and sweetness with these on the menu!

Where is the recipe for these cookies? All I could find are the “tips” – not a very helpful page in my opinion
Hi Glenda, a link to the recipe is at the beginning of the blog post under the section “Recipe used for the sparkly and striped heart shaped cookies.”
How did you get the stripes to be? How did you get them to stick ( roll out) an then cut with cookie cutter?
Hi Kathy! Here is the link with the full recipe details and a video too 🙂 https://preppykitchen.com/valentine-cookies/
